Extracting objects from digital terrain models

چکیده
The paper introduces the extraction of objects that are higher than their surroundings, like houses, trees, or bridges, by combining the results of a segmentation of a DTM and a texture analysis of the gray image. We propose a new algorithm (called dual rank) to extract the ground in the DTM, which can be seen as an extension of the gray opening. The extraction of trees in the gray image is done by a texture transformation, which is a fast and stable method, for the distinction between houses/roads and trees. The combination of both results is done region-oriented, i.e., every high object is analysed if it is a house, a tree, or a combination of both and thus separated and classiied.

Presenting a Morphological Based Approach for Filtering The Point Cloud to Extract the Digital Terrain Model
The Digital terrain model is an important geospatial product used as the basis of many practical projects related to geospatial information. Nowadays, a dense point cloud can be generated using the LiDAR data. Actually, the acquired point cloud of the LiDAR, presents a digital surface model that contains ground and non-ground objects. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach of ex...
متن کاملExtraction of Polygonal Information from Gridded Data
Rectangularly sampled, or gridded, spatial data such as classified LANDSAT imagery and Digital Terrain Models (DTM's), are increasingly ubiquitous sources of cartographic information. For environmental analysis, gridded data must be related to point, line, and polygon descriptions of phenomena, such as highway networks and soil zones. In combining such disparate forms of data, analysts must con...
متن کاملContextual Void Patching for Digital Elevation Model
Digital terrain models can be created by gathering a set of measurements from geometric objects. For various reasons, these models may be incomplete such that fail to meet the requirements defined by their potential applications. In this work, we develop a novel multiresolution approach to repair the voids commonly found in digital elevation models (DEM). We use the overall shape and structure ...
متن کاملExtraction of Different Buildings from Lidar Data
Airborne laser scanning has become an arch technology and which is now widely accepted for 3D data collection. These 3D points represent the terrain surface as well as objects on top of the terrain surface. Airborne LIDAR systems are able to record data through multiple pulses which make the data very accurate. LIDAR data is a relatively new technology for obtaining Digital Surface Models (DSM)...
متن کاملBuilding Extraction from Laser Scanning Data
Laser scanning systems are frequently used to provide the digital surface models, DSM, of the earth surface. Laser scanning is a fast and precise technique to extract information related with various objects (terrain and non-terrain). Automatic extraction of objects from laser scanner data and images has recently been an important subject. Buildings are the objects of the highest interest in 3D...
